MFA Show at Mason Gross

On Friday the 13th the first year MFA Show opened up at Mason Gross. One thing that was really positive about the show even though the artists aren't the ones that set up the show they wanted, the layout was really good. Everything had its own space and pieces didn't seem to overpower one or the other. It seemed well balanced and each room felt like it had sorta a right feel to it.
Didn't like most of the works, but there were a few that I liked. Megan's photos and her video of still shots, the photos by someone that were manipulated and the two long diptych paintings. Thought it was really cool how Megan took a few seconds of an area during her video to show movement in her still shots. Thus giving the images movement and life that a photo couldn't do. The two oil paintings looked real from far away due to the nice use of color and texture applied with the paint to the canvas. When standing closer to the pieces, the viewer can even appreciate the work more seeing the way the paint was applied and how really simple lines make the piece more complex and realistic as a person were to step back as they looked at it. Lastly thought the manipulated photos were executed with great care, and appreciated some of the puns that were made in them. Furthermore they really created powerful pieces and compositions because of the size they were printed on.
